The KWA QRF MOD 1 is a fantastically built, full metal AEG which runs off of its own unique 9mm style SMG magazines. There are so many positive points when it comes to the KWA QRF range, we don't know where to start. The main body is all full metal construction with complete ambidextrous controls making it ideal for any left or right-handed players. The magazine release has a button on both sides and on the MOD 1, it has the added MP5 lever type magazine release as well as fire selectors on either side which are completely in sync, unlike some other ambidextrous selector switches. The 7" MLOK rail system, the polymer & metal sliding stock, polymer pistol grip and the flip-up iron sights are all made and licensed by PTS Syndicate so you know you're getting the real deal when it comes to the KWA QRF MOD 1. The rail system has a small 20mm rail on the underside at the front for small accessories, a long 20mm rail along the top connecting to the upper receiver and the rest is customisable with the PTS MLOK rails or accessories. The sliding stock can collapse and retract in three positions. It retracts simply by pulling the stock out and it will lock into the next position (we recommend a little bit of grease on the bars) and to collapse the stock, simply press the button on the underside of the stock and push the stock forward to the next position. The battery compartment of the KWA QRF MOD 1 is accessed at the rear of the stock by taking the blanking plate off and sliding the battery into the generous battery compartment. After testing a few shapes and sizes, we found the best battery to fit is the Oper8 7.4v 1600MAH Block Battery. These come with Mini Tamiya connectors. The mag well is central and the magazines don't have a huge curve so it doesn't interfere in any foregrips or accessories you may attach whilst aiming the rifle or changing magazines. You can lock the mock bolt back by pulling the charging back and press in or up one of the bolt releases to allow you to adjust the hop easily and can be released by pressing one of the bolt releases again. Please note: With the magazines, do not insert a magazine into the rifle when the follower is sticking out the top as this can damage the magazine and hop unit.
