What Airsoft Gas To Use?

It can be confusing when looking at the different types of gas available. There are many different types, and different brands but these all look very similar, with the only difference being the packaging. There are three common styles with different power levels, which provide lubrication for your seals and gaskets on your gas blowback airsoft gun.

So which one do you need?

Green Gas

144a Green Gas is the lowest-pressure airsoft gas on the market. It is designed to work best with plastic slide pistols like Tokyo Marui, or non-blowback pistols where higher power gas can cause damage. Previously, 134a gas, used more frequently as a refrigerant gas, was the least powerful gas available to airsoft until it was deemed a highly-pollutant HFC and removed from sale.

Red Gas

Red Gas is an intermediate gas, much more suitable for heavier, metal slide pistols, or when the ambient temperature drops. Green gas can struggle to effectively cycle a metal-slide pistol in colder temperatures.

This gas can provide higher power and can increase the cycling rate of your airsoft pistol when needed. Great for WE Pistols.

As well as Abbey, Socom Tactical will be stocking a new brand of gas very shortly, with a more powerful option available.
